All trainees will take part in a 6 week summer immersion course in the summer after appointment to the MuSCLE T32 to intimately familiarize T32 trainees with the clinical practice, unmet needs, and opportunities in orthopaedic surgery through literature review. Furthermore, we want to facilitate the scope of reflection to highlight the broader concepts of overall musculoskeletal health and well-being through translational research. The course will be directed by surgeons and basic scientists with an emphasis on relevant topics including aging, cancer, models for MSK research, injury treatment, and the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in MSK research.
